Cx Faculty member Deborah Estrin, the Robert V. Tishman '37 professor of computer science at Cornell Tech, has been awarded a 2018 MacArthur Foundation fellowship for her innovative work using mobile devices and data to address social challenges.
The foundation recognized Estrin for her "ability to anticipate the applicability of technological advances to a variety of fields", including adapting digital traces from mobile devices to improve health and well-being. Estrin's work in the Cx lab focuses on using these digital traces to recommend online content to users without compromising their privacy.
